Disneyland!

Yesterday was my best friend's birthday, and to celebrate we went to Disneyland. It was so unbelievably hot, I was the hottest I ever remember being. But it was still a lot of fun. As much as I've gone to Disneyland, I still can't seem to pick out a practical AND cute outfit, so I just end up sticking with practical with capris and some flip flops, but hey, it gets the job done.

Yes, I might be the goon with their hands up, but we couldn't stop cracking up at the guy in the middle's face. hahah.

at the Mission tortilla factory. You get a free bag of tortillas on your birthday. Pretty amazing. Too bad they were making corn tortillas that day, and not flour.

After we left Disneyland we drove home and decided to eat at this bistro place by our house that has these delicious turkey croissant sandwiches and flavored iced teas. It was such a pretty night, and a nice ending to Jen's bday.

Mellow Yellow

IMG_1028

I don't know why all the pictures I take at this certain time of day come out so light and white-washed. I'm sure there's a setting on my camera to counteract it, but I'm still pretty clueless how to use my camera properly, haha. I promise I will figure it out and fix the quality.
But as far as the outfit, this is what I wore to get my hair done today. Even though the color is a bit off, the dress is a light creamy yellow. I'm sad I remembered I had this dress at the END of summer. sigh.

You can see the color a little better in this picture(which was how I wore it to my niece's birthday last July):

Inspiration

I've been feeling quite uninspired lately. Or maybe I should rephrase that: There's so much inspiration but I feel like I'm lacking my creative juices. So I turned to my inspiration notebook and magazine cut outs to try and find something that might revive it. Unfortunately I'm still looking at my closet and feeling quite stumped. What's inspiring you lovely people right now?

(happy birthday, Jessica!)

My sister's 30th birthday was thursday, and her husband planned a surprise party last night at a winery. It was really fun, and so pretty! I've been feeling so 'blah' all week, and was getting so tired of looking at my no-makeup face in the mirror so I was so happy to be able to get a little gussied up in my ruffled dress and purple heels and go out for the night.

Be Happy.

So sorry that I've been neglecting my blog the past couple days, there's been a lot going on, but hopefully I'll have an outfit post soon! Until then, here's something that I found to be so perfect. Everytime someone asks me what I want to be when I grow up, I find myself always answering, "happy" and then they get frusterated and say, "No! That's not what I meant." Duh, but really... it doesn't matter what anyone does as long as they're happy doing it. Right?

Sweater Envy

I get this feeling that if I start thinking about fall while it's still warm and sunny out, that I'm cheating on summer. I feel like I need to get the most out of my summer dresses and lace-up sandals and thinking about (or even worst, yearning for) colder weather, dressing in layers, and snuggling inside an soft cozy sweater is taboo. But I can't help myself! Since all the fall styles are coming out on the websites and in the stores, you can't help but take a peek at all the goodies you'll be able to wear while curling up with a good book or taking a stroll during an Indian Summer night. I am most definitely a sweater girl. I will take a sweater with me even in the middle of a Southern California summer (partly because every place cranks up their a/c to sub-zero temperatures and partly because you always want to be prepared for what the elements might throw at you) so without further ado, here are some of my favorite sweaters from around the web:

Ruche:

Anthropologie:
(no you're not having deja vu... this does look eerily similar to the first Ruche sweater [or does the Ruche sweater look eerily familiar to the Anthro sweater?] Either way, the Ruche sweater is $38 cheaper, so the choice is yours which you'd rather have)

ModCloth:

Style Inspiration on Modcloth

I was so excited to find out that I was a Style inspiration on the Modcloth blog today! I'm such a fan of Modcloth so I'm super flattered. And on a side note: Congrats Jessica on being the blogger of the moment! (As you can see on the right-hand side of the screen cap) If you haven't checked out Modcloth, or their blog (Where have you been?!) I'd definitely advise doing so! Thanks, Modcloth!

Brother's Birthday

Today was my brother's birthday (the big 2-5!) so we had a little bar-b-que at my house, complete with a photoshoot (courtesy of my sister. Thanks, Jessica!).

I'm an a-hole, haha.
haha, yeah... this really just happened. I don't know why this was cracking my sister and me up so much... but I have pictures of me doing (or attempting) pretty much every jump imaginable.

and while messing around with my camera I got some shots of my adorbale niece and nephew

So I finally went and bought a camera. A real hum-dinger, too (Canon EOS Rebel T1i)... one I'd write home about if I didn't still live at home. Big purchases like that always make me a tad bit nervous, but I felt like this is a wise investment. Hopefully now I can get some decent looking pictures up in hurrr. Yeah, I just said that. So I've been kind of just messing around with it for the past couple days, trying to get the feel of it... even though I'm still very much overwhelmed with everything I still have to learn about it. I snapped some pictures of my very tired dogs, my tomatoes growing in the backyard and some things around my room... kind of a tour of my home sweet home. I really can't wait to start using it full time!
