This Side of Paradise

sunset
"Many nights he lay there dreaming awake of secret cafés in Mont Marte, where ivory women delved in romantic mysteries with diplomats and soldiers of fortune, while orchestras played Hungarian waltzes and the air was thick and exotic with intrigue and moonlight and adventure."

I just finished This Side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzgerald the other day. I am constantly blown away by his lyricism and imagery. It makes you stop when you see something that strikes you and think, 'how would Fitzgerald describe this?' and it makes the world a little more beautiful.

Disney Couture

It's no secret that I like me some Disney. Well, moreso I like going to Disneyland and have been a passholder for more than a few years, and I admit I am still very much a little kid at heart. So when I found this Disney Couture jewlery line at Karmaloop I was smitten!

Flannels and Movies.

He's just not that into you
(dad's flannel shirt, thrifted belt, skinny jeans from target, over-the-knee boots from Alloy)
so the clouds finally parted and the sun came back out, so I took advantage of my day by running some errands and then sitting inside a movie theatre watching "He's Just Not That Into You" Which was funny and so true. and even though the rain had stopped, it was still quite cold outside, so I decided to wear my dad's flannel shirt, some skinny jeans and my new over-the-knee boots. a little grunge meets Pretty Woman. But comfy and cozy I was.

A Tour

laptop
Greetings! Unfortunately since it's been non-stop rain and hail here in Southern California I have had no reason to get ready and go anywhere, so instead I decided I would make myself a cup of hot chocolate and sit down to make a more visually appropriate introductory post.
hot chocolate
shoes
my ever-growing shoe collection. This is just the overflow of what won't fit on my regular 12-row shoe rack. Oy vey. The first step is admitting you have a problem.

headquarters
This will be the Le Quaintrelle headquarters, surrounded by a clutter of odds and ends: Stacks of magazines, vintage-hat-wearing dollheads, half-finished crocheting projects, and fresh flowers.

I've also seen a lot of "contents of my purse" pictures, and think it's quite a creative way to give a little bit of insight on the type of person someone is. We are what we carry afterall, right? Why just limit it to food?
purse
The contents of my plain black leather handbag I've been towing around lately are (clockwise from top):
My eco-friendly sunglasses (made from reclaimed materials) from ICUEyewear, Yellow Anthropologie Wallet, phone, Neutrogena Spray SPF 70 Sunscreen (seriously, SPF 70), This Side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzgerald, gum, an array of lipglosses still in their TSA-approved plastic bag from a flight back in December! the bag includes: MAC Lipglass in orange-descence, C-thru and Underage as well as clear Lipglass and regular MAC lipstick in Hue, and Watch Your Mouth Lipbalm from Bath and Body Works (varieties the spice of life, right?), my keys, checkbook, a sample-size bottle of Burt's Bees Aloe & Buttermilk Body Lotion, and my coffee cup coin purse.
So there it is... now you know what I'm drinking, where I'm working, what I put on my feet and what I carry around on a daily basis. Hopefully once the clouds part and the sun starts shining again I can put all these to good use.
So until then, au revior fellow quaintrelles.

...and Le Quaintrelle is born.

By definition a Quaintrelle is a woman who emphasizes a life of passion expressed through personal style, leisurely pastimes, charm, and cultivation of life’s pleasures, and my goal is to make this blog a documentation of just that. I just need to get everything up and running and we can get this show on the road. and in the words of Willy Wonka, "I hope you enjoy it... I think you will." Au Revior.
