This was right after I got back from getting my nails done. I'm the kind of person that likes to go to the nail shop to relax and have someone else do my nails when I'm too impatient and lazy to do them myself. The thing I hate about nail shops? The ladies talking to me. Don't get me wrong, I'm nice and all for having a conversation with someone, but I can't stand small talk or when someone feel like they have to talk about something. I promise you, I am completely fine reading my US Weekly in silence. Also, I hate it because they always try to up-sell you with something and I am the biggest pushover that agrees to whatever just so they'll stop talking. So I pick out my color and the lady's doing my nails and she starts telling me about how people are painting one of their nails differently and I should try it and blah blah. I've tried this trend before, I'm so-so on it. I don't think it looks that great on me, but whatever, I agree to let her do it, if I don't like it I'll just fix it when I get home (I brought a color from home). She asks me what color I wanted for the different nail. Thinking what might look good with coral I tell her, "just do white" She mumbles something I don't understand and says, "No, I do brown. It'll look better." I don't have the heart to tell her that it's going to look awful, but she ends up figuring it out anyway when I see her wiping the brown off my nail after she painted it. Then I hear, "Okay, this look better.." I look down and all I have on my nail is single coat of white sparkle. Granted, it did look better than the brown... but it looked like I just completely forgot to paint one of my nails. So went home and changed it to this:

Disco inferno! I sort of love it even though I kind of wish the sparkle was on the ring finger instead but IT'S JUST NAILS I'LL GET OVER IT. If you're curious the coral color is Essie's "Tart Deco" and the sparkle is Essies "Set in Stone".

I can only describe this nail polish as the equivalent of having a first born child. I don't have any children, so I feel like I'm allowed to make such shallow comparisons. You know how parents always say they didn't know what to expect before they had kids, but once they saw them, they didn't know they could love something so much? That was pretty much my same experience with this nail polish. I knew I liked it, and I knew I wanted it, but I didn't really know what to expect before I put it on my nails. Now that I've seen it, I didn't know I could love a nail polish so much, and I couldn't imagine my life without it now. And the fact that I just spent the last 5 minutes comparing a nail polish to a child just reaffirms the fact that I should never have children.

crackle nail polish

Let's take our focus off of how pissed off I look in the first picture, and talk about how adorable Toby is. The sun was just in my eyes, really. Or we can talk about how this is an extra large Queen shirt I made into a tunic. That's actually not that exciting. Let's go back to Toby. Adorable, right? Oh! and the crackle nail polish!

If I had enough patience I would look through my entire Twitter feed to find a tweet I sent out back in October asking if anyone knew where I could get crackle nail polish. I remember it from when I was a kid, and I wanted to do it for Halloween. Well, besides the fact that nobody responded to the tweet, I still couldn't find it anywhere. Fast forward a couple months, Katy Perry comes out with an OPI collection that includes a black "shatter" nail polish, and everyone's acting like this is a new concept. Everywhere I look, it's sold out. Then I see OPI has a Pirates of the Caribbean collection with silver shatter polish. Again, can't find it anywhere. Then the other day I was getting my nails done and the guy goes, "have you tried crackle nail polish?" and I told him my whole life story about it, and he goes, "oh we have it" and of course, I have to get it. At first I was going to get pink, but then I thought, why not go with the obnoxiously bright neon orange? That's appropriate. The rest is history. Alright, kiddies, story time's over.

Fairytale

Cajun Shrimp

SPRING IS HERE!! It's been so gorgeous out lately, I couldn't help but bust out the sandals and bright lipstick. I'm loving corals right now, so I had to wear it on my lips AND nails. It makes me happy to look at. Also, Wanted sent me these sandals and they are oh so comfortable. My mom said they remind her of my grandma, which gave me a complex at first, like I was walking around in grandma shoes, but after awhile I just didn't care because they were so comfortable. I'm looking at them right now, and I'm liking them more and more... they look like a take on a Grecian sandal, which I love. I think I can work with that.

I Don't Believe My Eyes!

Orgasm

Well, believe it! It's true-- I did an outfit post. AND I'm wearing my new fancy vintage tunic from the Goodwill I was bragging about the other day. It's embroidered and it has peacocks on it! Yes, you read that correctly-- peacocks. And bell sleeves! The list goes on and on. Expect to see this again during Cinco De Mayo. You better hold on to your sombreros, muchachas. My spell check is trying to change that to 'mustaches' but I know better. I might not know how to speak Spanish, but I know how to spell mustache, spell check!

Mama don't take my Kodachrome away

I've been all about this lipstick lately-- Snob by MAC.

life is like a box of books

I got literally a boxful of books on my porch yesterday. Remember that amazing sale Barnes and Noble was having that I mentioned? This is the result. I have a year+ worth of reading material. Thinking of doing monthly book reviews, what's the general consensus?

New Year's Eve Nails

I went from having gold nails, to silver. I like to treat all metallic colors equally. And I thought it was festive for New Years Eve. Not really sure where to go from here with my nail polish.

So here are some suggestions on how, you too, can be the Girl with the Golden Touch.

A Site To See

golden nails
I love gooooooold.

I love my dogs. Sometimes I think they really add that... je ne sais quoi to my pictures. But today was a different story. It's one thing that Charlie was hogging the focal point and forcing me to be pushed off to the side; but it wasn't until I uploaded the pictures and started editing them that I realized my dog was peeing in the background of 99% of them. I think he might still be going in the first picture, I can't tell... but I felt it was discreet enough to post. Maybe this can double as a National Geographic post? Dogs in their natural habitat? No? Okay. eh, tis life.
