I ended up putting together 8 different outfits. I think that's pretty amazing for it all coming out of my own closet! Now the real question is: Are these practical outfits that I incorporate into my everyday life (minus the hat and goggles-- or hey, new trend!)? Personally I love looks 1, 3, 6 & 7 and could see myself wearing those out. I really loved trying to make a "collection" out of the clothes in my closet; I think I might try it more often. It's nice to see your old clothes with new eyes.
Here's the video of the Hermes runway show:
I love that the runway is actually suppose to be a RUNWAY. Oh, old vintage aviation, you are so glamorous!

i love how this look is both futuristic and retro!
ReplyDeleteA+++++++++++++++++++! These are by far my favorite outfit posts of any you've ever done. WEAR THEM ALL OUT!
ReplyDeleteThese look great. I could definitely see wearing most of them (minus the goggles of course) on a regular day. Great job! I don't think I could pull that off out of my closet, but it might be interesting to try.
ReplyDeletethis is brilliant! love them all, i wanna try it myself!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, this is amazing. I would definitely wear the goggles too, they add that extra oomph to the outfits :) Life is a catwalk right? For us bloggers anyway...
ReplyDeleteLove the blog, glad I stumbled upon it - I'm adding you to my blogroll xxx
Great post and amazing outfits! It's really inspiring to know that you came up with those looks right out of your own closet. Goes to show that you don't necessarily need to rush and buy new clothes to (re)create a particular look. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, everyone! I'm so glad that there's so much positive feedback and you don't think I'm crazy for going full on with the goggles! haha
ReplyDeleteAmazing post!! That is amazing how you came up with all of those outfits! I honestly love all of them!
ReplyDeleteyou've got me excited, I have goggles like this, though the hat would be a tougher wrangle.
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant. The Hermes collection is one of my faves too. I LOVE that you were Amelia for Halloween!

ReplyDeleteyou look fabulous in every outfit!
ReplyDeleteyou did a wonderful job, love all the outfits you created. this is very inspiring
ReplyDeleteNot always perfect matches but the outfits are pretty great none the less, and where on earth did you dig up the avaiators hat
ReplyDelete+ you could totally rock those outfits in the real world
I also fell in love with the Hermes fall09 collection. The colors and textures are so very rich. And I love googles. You did a WONDERFUL job with the exercise here. Very creative and inspiring. Big bravo! It makes me realize I need some vintage-style shoes in my wardrobe so I can incorporate more of these looks.
ReplyDeleteMOST IMPORTANT QUESTION: where did you get the cap and googles? :)
I looked in your Earhart costume post (great!), but couldn't find it mentioned there.
#4 - is that the JCPenney faux furr vest? I had posted about that maybe a month ago, it's great to see it in play. :)
#5 & 6 - I love these, they're close to my own business style. These are examples of one of the things I love most about that time period. A seemingly effortless mix of menswear with feminine lines that I rarely see now.
#8 - lovely job!
Thank you, E and O! To answer your questions...
ReplyDeleteI got the cap and goggles from the museum of flights online gift shop: http://www.museumofflightstore.org/haco.html
I actually got the faux fur vest at the goodwill, where it was originally from I'm not sure.
Thanks so much for the link to the museum store. :) Again, you did an impressive job translating runway to street with these outfits.
ReplyDeleteWell--I would actually wear this in real life, but I've been known to wear some bizarre stuff, sometimes regretting it, in my life.
ReplyDeleteI don't think these are regrettable, but it's definitely just occasion wear. It would be cute to go out to eat with friends in.
These are soo lovely! Good job.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely covet your wardrobe. I just thought you should know!! :)
ReplyDeletelove it! where did you get those gorgeous high waisted pants??
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I love it! Originalluxury
