Squares That Care

Last year I had an idea called Squares That Care. I wrote a post about it, I was totally into it, and then I kind of just left it. Fast forward to the present, where I've been reading a book by Joyce Meyer called "The Love Revolution." It's about just that: starting a revolution of love. There is a chapter all about action, doing good for others, never being idle. Then I realized just how idle I've been in my life. How I've let the setbacks get me down and discourage me. Never having any real motivation, never bearing any real fruit. I don't know what God's plan is for me, I don't know what special skill or talent I have and I certainly don't know what to do with it if I ever found out what it was. So I prayed about it, and again this idea was put back in my head, weighing on my heart. Should I try it? I kept asking God, and the urge to do it never went away. So I decided I'd give it a shot, and if it doesn't work out, then at least I'll know.

So that leads me to reintroducing Squares That Care. I made a blog specially for the project that you can find here. It tells you all about it. I hope a lot of you participate, or spread the word so others can join. I'm excited to see the community and creativity that I know has the potential of growing out of this. I can't wait to see where and what this leads to! I have a feeling big things are in store!

  1. Love it! (I wish I knew how to crochet!) But I shared it on facebook at least.
Also, FYI, I liked InPink on Facebook and went to leave a comment on that post, but your blog won't open that page/post, so I can't enter.

  2. Thank you so much for sharing it on Facebook! You should learn how to crochet! This is a great way to practice.

I don't know why that page isn't opening, but give me your email address and I'll add you to the giveaway. :)

  3. I congratulate you on going forth and putting your dream into action! Unfortunately I don't know how to crochet or knit, but I've been dying to learn. Hopefully once I do, I can support your cause and send you a granny square!

You should be completely proud of yourself! Not many people have the courage to start a dream of theirs, but you have. I can only hope that I am able to do that some time in my life too.

I also just want to let you know that you completely inspire me. I always loved your blog because you have amazing style, and I love your hair! I've gotten my hair cut and dyed based on yours! Ha. I know that may sound really silly, but I'm serious. And I also have great admiration for you when you shared your story about your anxiety. I can only imagine how hard that is to deal with, but I hope you can overcome it day by day.

Good luck with your endeavor! I will be supporting you in any way that I can! Hopefully by actually donating a granny square down the road! :)

  4. Thank you, Becky! Your comment and kind words mean so much to me! I was hesitant of starting this for so long, because being a human I constantly had this fear of failure, or nobody wanting to participate or it just being a wreck. And while these are all valid fears, I had to push them aside and still do it, because if I didn't I'd always be wondering if it really could have made a difference. If we let fear rule our life, nobody would ever get anything done. So your words of encouragement are really what I needed to hear right now.

I am so flattered to inspire anyone, that means the world to me. I feel like sometimes my anxiety keeps me from making a difference to anyone, so even if I can make a difference with me hair, I'll take it! haha. I really hope to see you participate in the near future. I promise crocheting isn't as intimidating as it seems!

Thank you again for your comment, it made my day :)
