Emily and the Technicolor Dress

stripes

It has gotten to the point in summer where it is just unbearably hot. The kind of hot that makes wearing clothes the last thing you want to do. The kind of hot where you don't want any sort of fabric touching your body, and muumuus start looking like a reasonable choice of clothing. So this is my take on the muumuu... the over-sized dress that floats away from your body and fabric touching as little skin as possible. I made this dress using this tutorial from Martha Stewart's website and some of my mom's vintage fabric. It's essentially just two pieces of fabric sewn together. You couldn't make a simpler piece of clothing. and it's perfect for these heat waves.

Dress: made by me
sandals: Victoria's Secret

  5. I think that's almost the same as American Apparel's Le Sac dress, but without convertible straps. I love the vintage fabric and I completely identify with the misery of dressing in the heat.
