Happy Saturday
"I roll onto my side and stare out the venetian blinds at the blue sky beyond. After a few minutes I'm lulled into a sort of peace. The sky, the sky-- same as it always was."
--Sara Gruen, Water For Elephants
p.s. Has anyone read Water For Elephants? (it's one of my favorites!) How do you feel about Robert Pattinson playing Jacob in the movie adaptation? I'm a little bummed, to be honest =/

First in a Long Line
Skirt: made by me (via burdastyle pattern)
Top/Shoes: Target
Sweater: Ross
I whipped this skirt up the other night (as a novice seamstress, I've always wanted to say that.) But really, this is probably the easiest article of clothing I've ever made. For some reason I've been in such a creative sewing mood lately... I've gotten a surge of ambition, I suppose, and finally want to start making my clothes. Because who doesn't love the expression on people's faces when they ask where you got something and you get to answer back, "oh, I made it"? I know I do.

...and white I wore
Dress: courtesy of Shabby Apple
Belt: Forever 21
Shoes: Marshall's
First off, thank you to all the men and women who have served our country past and present. Your sacrifices and selflessness is appreciated more than words can describe, and it will never be forgotten. Thank you.
What better day than Memorial Day to prance around in my new Shabby Apple dress? I honestly felt like Joan Holloway as soon as I put it on. It made me feel feminine and curvy (in a good way!). Maybe it was because the lining of the dress was a bit form-fitting. I guess I completely disregarded my 38" hips when ordering a small, haha. I love the dress though--the eyelet and embellishment around the neckline is so perfectly flirty. It was a perfect Memorial Day Outfit!
(my niece's face seriously cracks me up)
how was your Memorial Day?
