How to Tie a Scarf

I've been asked by a couple different people if I could show how to tie a scarf, so when Affordablescarves.com asked me to be part of their Scarf Tying Series, I was happy to jump at the opportunity. It wasn't until right before I started to shoot the video that I thought, "oh man, this is a video!" and started getting nervous, haha. Now you can hear my dorky voice AND learn a new way to tie your scarves! That's a two-for-one deal!

Thanks Afforable Scarves for letting me take part in this!

Watching Dr. Strangelove tonight, I realized it's, well, kind of strange. (the strangeness rubbed off on me as you can see by my goofy grin in every picture.) Everyone I talked to loves it, but I just don't get it. I can't be alone in thinking this... can I?
This outfit is pretty much just the six dollar sweater outfit back in November, but instead of my skinny jeans I wore my skinny capris (such a rebel I know).

Spring Picks

spring picks

It's a gorgeous day here in California. The temperature is a nice 66 degrees, sunny with a few scattered clouds. It's making me excited for spring; so I decided to make a list of my spring picks. The essentials to frolicking around during a warm, sunny day.

1.simple strappy sandals from Alloy
2.Tiered sweetheart halter dress from Victoria's Secret
3.Oragami & Pilates tote from Chip Chop (because this is the kind of sense of humor I have)
4.TOMSWedges. Because it was only a matter of time
5. a new straw hat from J. Crew
6.light-weight and airy scarf from Anthropologie
7.reusable bag that folds up into a strawberry? Yes, please. From Modcloth
8. Bright Floral Skirt from Old Navy

What's on your spring must-have list?

Glamour.com Feature!

One of my outfits from my 3.1 Phillip Lim From Runway to Hallway post was featured onglamour.com! When I told my sister I was on Glamour's website she responded, without missing a beat, "on the Don't page?" hahaha. Leave it to my sister to cut me a slice of humble pie. I'm still freaking out on the inside though! Thanks, Glamour!!

Saturday Wrap-Up

necklace

Today was spent shopping with my mom all day-- and I had to wear my new coat out. It might be my new favorite. Also, Courtney from Dolly and Boy Jewelry sent me this necklace made from recycled bullet shells... how awesome and badass is that? I love the little seashell... I will definitely have to wear it to the beach this summer.

Shorts (not seen): Ross
Jacket: ebay
Scarf: Charlotte Russe
Boots: Alloy

Also, while I was out my mom introduced me to this UH-MAZING frozen yogurt place called White Lime. It's self-serve so you can get as much or as little of anything you want.

I got: Vanilla custard, triple-chocolate, dulce de leche caramel, almonds, coconut flakes, sprinkles, a brownie and maraschino cherries. It was heavenly. I don't know if they have these anywhere else, or if it's just local... but if you ever get the chance... go! I will definitely be making another visit.

Today also included me finishing my book, My Lobotomy (really good! I'd recommend reading it!) getting a new phone (I am such an old woman going back to an old school flip phone... but honestly I don't need all the bells and whistles just give me T9!) and a new batch of MAC makeup! Going to MAC always reminds me why I wanted to be a makeup artist... and also reminds me why I wasn't good enough to be one. haha. All in all, it was a wonderful Saturday!

Forever Sweetheart

Even though I had to work on Valentine's Day, I still wanted to enter the forever sweetheart contest Forever 21 was putting on over at Chictopia, so I decided I'd put together what I would have worn. Whenever I think of dressing up, or anything romantic, I automatically go to old-fashion retro "pin-up" attire. Who knows why. It worked out perfectly that this skirt just so happened to be from Forever 21.
Also, my dog Toby had to be my sweetheart. Don't worry, the other dogs got some love too, as you can see... it was just that Toby was the easiest to hold for the picture. And because he always wakes me up at unGodly hours of the early morning to come sleep in my bed, so I think he might love me a little.

Shirt and Skirt: Forever 21
Fishnets and Shoes: Target
Hair comb: gift

Today was also a good day because I went to the dentist and had no cavities! Big smile. and my big fat Ebates check came in the mail! I got $30 from the Christmas shopping I did online. This isn't an advertisement, or sponsor, I'm just literally amazed that I got money for shopping online. If you don't use ebates, sign up immediately!

If this outfit looks familiar, it's because it is. It's one of the outfits from the Phillip Lim closet collection I did last month. I just wore a different shirt and added a scarf. But I guess these From Runway to Hallway posts are working since I'm getting new outfit ideas from it!

Happy Valentine's Day!

amore.

Happy Valentine's Day, my sweets! Here are some things I 'amore':

Elle's new Lit-life blog, for those of us 'fiction junkies with great taste'!

These wedges. Oh spring, I can't wait for you!

The most adorable couple tickling the ivories at the Mayo Clinic. (they've been married 62 years!)

This, and all the other photos in Square America's Brief Essay on Love gallery.

Perhaps the simplest definition of love.

My two favorite "romance" books: Love Letters, Lost and Love Stories of World War II. They're not Pride and Prejudice, but they're real.

The perfect love note. Short and sweet.

My favorite scene from one of my favorite movies. Oh Jimmy!

and of course, YOU! I hope you all have a lovely day!

I wanted something comfortable to sit through another 3 hour class tonight while we watched "Chinatown" so naturally I went for one of my dad's flannels. Apparently comfort in my mind equals grown mens' clothing. Since I didn't get home until almost 11, I didn't feel like shooing my dogs out of the pictures... and I thought I'd be nice and let them be in some of their own.

For the third installment of From Runway to Hallway I chose Stella McCartney's Pre-Fall 09 collection. The whole collection is lovely! It makes me wanna scream, "STELLLLLLLA!" (a little A Streetcar Named Desire humor. Har har) I love the simplicity of the pieces with pops of purple and red. But really, Stella can do no wrong in my eyes. So, how did I do? Favorites? You can click on any of the pictures to see where everything's from.
